What is a warehouse Health and Safety Audit?
A warehouse health and safety audit is an in-depth review of a warehouse business’s implementation and management of health and safety policies and procedures.
The audit includes an assessment of existing policies, hazards and risks that are present and recommended ways to minimise these risks and update protocols to ensure they align with legal requirements.
Are Health and Safety Audits in warehouses a legal requirement?
Unlike some business sectors, health and safety audits for warehouses are not actually a legal requirement.
However, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that audits are carried out, not only to keep your staff and property safe, but to also prevent hefty fines or prosecutions if an accident were to happen that could have been prevented with the correct health and safety measures.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers are legally required to ‘provide a safe working space for employees and visitors’ and ‘protect the health, safety, and welfare of their employees as far as reasonably practicable’. Conducting regular health and safety audits at your warehouse can help to ensure you meet these legal requirements.

How often should a warehouse facility have a Health and Safety Audit?
